Mat board is
the idyllic element used to mount your artwork for framing.
There are many different kinds and grades of mat board. Although
some matting materials are acceptable for archival museum
quality matting, some are not. The Artful Framer carries all
types, styles, and brands of matting and mounting materials, so
you can be assured that your artwork will be finished to
exacting standards.
Mounting comes in many forms, and can be creative or technical
in application. Some mounting examples include hot mount, wet
mount, spray mount, and pressure sensitive mount.
Apart from framing and glazing your work, the rest of the
materials that make up a professionally framed work are called
the “framing package”, “mat package” or simply the “package.”
Some include the glazing as part of the “package”, biased only
by the framer. The top mat and back mat are the most important
parts of the package, since they come in direct contact with
your artwork. Hinges and fastening devices come in a close
second.
Some of the more common matting solutions are wrapped mats,
embossed mats, shadowboxes, and tiered mats. The Artful Framer
utilizes our experience to deliver creative solutions using
fabrics, adhesives, decorative papers, and more, and all at very
reasonable rates. |
